Aurora, bright with all sorts of lights, include cars maneuvering to drop off excited showgoers to The Paramount Theatre. It is the Friday evening press preview. Vehicles pull up in front of the red carpet and drop off passengers who have arrived to see, and enjoy, “The Secret of my Success.”
Gordon Greenberg in his director’s notes wrote: “How do you define success? What is the magical combination of material wealth, spirituality, creativity, romance, family (and more) that will fulfill us? Those are the questions at the heart of our story.
When Brantley Foster sets off from the Midwest in search of his fortune, determined to surpass his parents, he digs into the cut-throat world of New York business and, in his attempts to ‘succeed’ sinks to the bottom of the moral well. Faced with the prospect of losing the people he loves most, he ultimately reframes his objectives and thus redefines success, and he does it by walking a tight rope between two personalities in a farce of epic proportions.”
The story brings thought-provoking ideas to ponder while bringing forth songs such as: “Head Down,” “Get It Done,” “You Can Have it All.” Dance and song emphasize the many facets of success.
The stage settings, the Paramount Orchestra, even the new seats all add to a wonderful evening at the Aurora Paramount Theatre.
