BrightSide Theatre continues its commitment to young artists with the belief that involvement in arts programs increases the development in children on both an academic and social scale while building self-esteem. We designed The BrightSide Theatre Youth Project to provide a professional and educational learning experience for grade school through high school students aged 8-18 interested in exploring musical theater.

In this program, children work directly with professional directors, musical directors, choreographers, designers, and artists, to develop their own theatrical skills. Our staff works with professional theatres including, Paramount Arts Center, First Folio, Chicago Shakespeare, Broadway in Chicago, Drury Lane Oak Brook.

After very successful productions for the last nine seasons, we are happy to announce that this year’s BrightSide Theatre Youth Project production will be Sister Act, Jr..

Tickets are on sale, $18 for adults and $13 for students. For more information visit www.BrightSideTheatre.com, or call at 630-447-8497.

Performances are at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall on the campus of North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth Avenue, Naperville.

Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Sister Act Jr. is the feel-good musical comedy that will have audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors). When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found: A convent!

Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly-found sisterhood.

Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story, Sister Act Jr. will leave audiences breathless. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act Jr. is a reason to rejoice!
