Canning instructions by University of Illinois in August

Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy your garden vegetables or farmers market produce all year long? Whether just starting out or updating knowledge, join University of Illinois extension educator Laura Barr for one of three upcoming seasonal programs on home food preservation.
“Canning is a simple, smart way to make the most of the fresh produce available this time of year,” Barr said.
There are three choices throughout August for the “Yes, You Can: Preserving Safely” presentation. The dates and locations are as follows:
• Kane County, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 at the Extension Office, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.
• Kendall County, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Extension Office, 7775B Illinois Route 47, Yorkville.
• DuPage County, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Extension Office, 1100 E. Warrenville Road, Naperville.
Register online at go.illinois.edu/extensiondkk. There is a $7. fee per person.
