I hope all mothers out there had a very nice Mother’s Day. Also, that anyone who has, or had, an earthling mother made him or her feel special.
I wrote “him” because in some species (such as clownfish or banana slugs) the father is also the mother, which may not last if the Donald Trump administration has anything to say about it. But banana slugs or other species may not have to worry about being de-parented for some time because the Slug-in-Chief in the White House is focused on more pressing problems: Like having the Republicans in congress actually pushing to pass a bill to get us to pay Trump one billion dollars to construct his 200-million-now-400-million-dollar gold-plated ballroom while waging his useless, illegal “two week” skirmish with Iran to destroy its nuclear weapons that were totally obliterated at the end of last year.
Recently, a 22-foot-tall golden statue of president Donald Trump, titled “Don Colossus,” was unveiled at the Trump National Doral Miama golf club.
Did you happen to notice how easy it is for these congressional Trumpers to casually talk about billions of dollars of our money being wasted on superfluous trash that nobody gives a rat’s patoot about while we poor slobs who earned those dollars struggle to pay for it all through higher gas, grocery, and rising prices on most everything else? Makes no difference to Donny and his billionaire buddies.
I have an actor friend who lives in Beverly Hills who’s currently in a popular streaming series. He likes to keep a low profile and stay out of the public eye as much as possible, so I won’t mention his name. He realizes his fame won’t last forever, so he’s investing in real estate and rental properties. I see him as a regular guy who happened to latch on to a high paying job.
Recently he paid a $250 service call for a guy to change his furnace/air conditioner filter. I told him he could have done that himself in about five minutes. He said he just didn’t feel like it, okay?
I guess my point is (if I even had one) although he’s well-off compared to the majority of us and can handle the daily price increases, he still can’t avoid other everyday things that pop up such as parent/sibling problems, which money won’t solve. And most of his workdays do run 16-18 hours. His agent recently negotiated a $25,000 raise for him, which he donated to the American Heart Association.
It boggles my mind and it brings a tear to my eye throwing all the aforementioned dollar amounts around while I’m here washing and ironing used toilet paper to save a few cents, so I’d better stop before I’m boggled beyond repair. I keep reminding myself that we’re all just humans in this together.
