Residents of Centennial House in Aurora long have voiced concern about the need for additional security measures at the West Side apartment complex. The recently-announced collaborative effort between Fifth Ward alderman Carl Franco and Aurora Housing Authority Board (AHA) chairman Joseph Grisson and AHA Board members responds to the resident’s request.
Alderman Franco, who serves on the Planning and Development Committee, and is an alternate on the Government Operations Committee, announced that funding in the amount of $6,300, will go toward security enhancements at Centennial House.
Alderman Franco talked about the funding and said, “Ensuring safe housing, safe neighborhoods, and a safe community is a priority for me. Providing Ward funds to assist Centennial House with a vehicle for crime prevention and deterrence reflects that commitment. The entire Ward is better off knowing that we are diligent in addressing this issue and that we are sending a message that our resident’s safety is the number one concern for the APD (Aurora Police Department) and myself.”
