He was born March 15, 1932 in Aurora, IL, son of the late Charles and Eldora (McConkie) Day. Charlie was a member of New England Congregational Church of Aurora. He graduated in 1953 from the New Mexico Military Institute. Charlie spent his career at the family insurance agency, Chas. E. Day Insurance Agency, founded by his father. Charlie was born and raised in the city of Aurora, a community which he loved and where he was actively involved in many organizations and activities. Charlie and his beloved wife, Donna, enjoyed going to all their children’s and grandchildren’s school and athletic events.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Diane (Bob Angarola) Schmalensee of Mundelein, IL; his three sons, Charles E. (Kimberli) Day III of Aurora, Brian (Phyllis) Day of Sugar Grove, and Michael Day of Ottawa; his ten grandchildren, Krista, Jonathan, Craig, Brent, Kevin, Shannon, Kirsten, Corrinne, Aaron and Lucas; his seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Matthew, Benjamin, Norah, Gabriela, Giuliana, and Raelynn; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna C. Day, and his sister, Jaen Stevenson. He fought the good fight for so long and is now at peace.
Funeral services took place at The Healy Chapel and interment was at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Charlie’s memory may be made to The Montgomery & Countryside Fire Department.
