Waubonsee Community College’s Johnny Marquez was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 8-14. The Chiefs’ left-handed hitting first baseman batted .500 over the course of Waubonsee’s first four games of this season.
A graduate of South Elgin High School, Marquez smacked a home run and two doubles on the way to driving in five runs. The 6-4, 240-pound freshman drew three walks and stole a base and the Chiefs’ record was 1-3 during the week.
