ELEMY, LLC will be host to the Second Annual ELEMY Chili Bowl to benefit World Relief DuPage/Aurora from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Gillerson’s Grubbery, 33 W. New York Street, and Endiro Coffee, 29 W. New York Street, each in downtown Aurora.
For $15 per person, visitors can receive one sample cup of chili from each of the event’s eight competing restaurants and then help choose the winner by voting for their favorite chili. Children eight years and younger will receive free admission.
One-hundred percent of the ticket sales will go to World Relief’s services for refugee and immigrant families in DuPage and Kane Counties. World Relief has been serving immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers, and churches in the Fox Valley area for 40 years.
Organizer, Joel Frieders, of ELEMY, said, “We want to use the Chili Bowl and our partnership with World Relief DuPage/Aurora as a welcoming to the local refugee and immigrant community. We believe that our area’s single greatest asset is our diversity and that we shouldn’t follow trends involving close-minded rhetoric when we can, instead, choose to set the high standard of worldwide welcome.”
This year, ELEMY’s goal is to raise $5,000 through the event to support a citizenship clinic to help immigrants apply to become United States citizens.
The event will feature chili from the following participating restaurants: Gillerson’s Grubbery of Aurora, Endiro Coffee of Aurora, Beebee’s Deli of Aurora, Tredwell Coffee of Aurora, Burger Social of Wheaton, Burger Local of Geneva, Craft Urban of Geneva, and Altiro of Geneva (coming soon to Aurora).
The winner with the best chili will take home the 2019 ELEMY Chili Bowl trophy and bragging rights for next year!
Tickets can be purchased the day of the event, or can be pre-purchased by going to bit.ly/ELEMYCHILIBOWL (case sensitive).
