In addition to coaching, the Woodstock native will serve as an assistant dean and instructor for new advanced fitness classes. A new strength and fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment for on-site circuit training.

Rago joins Aurora Central Catholic (ACC) after three years at St. Patrick High School in Chicago where he was offensive coordinator. He help to lead the team to State quarterfinals, the deepest playoff run in the school’s history.

Rago served as a linebacker for Aurora University’s football team before earning his bachelor’s degree.

While earning his master’s in business administration he served as a graduate assistant football coach for Aurora University (AU) by instructing tight ends and backfield players in 2016. That year the Spartans won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference football championship.

Rago was quoted as saying in a press release, “It’s an honor to join Aurora Central Catholic High School’s acclaimed athletic network.

“As head football coach, my mission is to focus on developing the whole person, empowering each student-athlete to reach new levels of success both on and off the field.”

Rago’s wife, Jenee (Lange), an AU soccer standout, 2010 to 2014, is head strength and conditioning coach at AU.

“Rago’s college-level coaching experience, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic align well with our vision for ACC’s football program,” said Paul Mayer, Aurora Central Catholic principal and Aurora area superintendent for the Rockford Diocese.

“We’re excited to start a new chapter of Charger football under coach Rago, and the future looks very bright,” Mayer said.

The Chargers will open the season Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., against visiting Wauconda in Aurora.
