Naperville senior citizens and those in need are invited to the 36th annual Community Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, presented by the Naperville YMCA and the Naperville Park District.

The Chicago Marriott Naperville, 1801 N. Naper Boulevard, will be host to the luncheon. Each year, approximately 160 individuals attend, enjoying the company of others and a festive meal, served by community volunteers and made possible by generous donors. Special features of the annual event include a visit from Santa coordinated by Naperville Bank and Trust and centerpieces made by students from School District 204.

“Every year, I am truly humbled by the outpouring of kindness from our community and volunteers who make the Christmas Luncheon possible,” said Robin Conrad, senior program director and interim executive director, Kroehler Family YMCA. “Building strong communities is at the heart of what we do every day. That is why the Y is proud to be a partner in this event which builds community, brings so much happiness to others and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.”

This year is the 10th year of the Park District’s involvement with the event.

“The Christmas Luncheon is one of the most heartwarming events of the year,” said Park District executive director Ray McGury. “Thanks to all of the donors and volunteers who give generously to bring joy to those who otherwise might be alone.”

To attend, interested seniors and families in need must make reservations by December 19 by calling Polly Rhodes at 630-527-6599 and leaving a message with their contact name, phone number, guests’ names and the total number in their party.
