Cindy Sansale recently joined The Just Food Initiative (JFI) of the Fox Valley as a part-time administrative assistant, to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Annamae Hill. Cindy Sansale comes to JFI with extensive experience in administration, particularly from her job at the Amoco Research Center in Naperville, where she specialized in the Environment, Health, and Safety Department. Later, her expertise was expanded in positions at four fox Valley area churches.
Cindy loves to garden, grows her own veggies, and enjoys sharing her gardening competence with others to show them how easy and satisfying it is to home-grow healthier and tastier food than found in supermarkets. Because of their work with food justice in the Fox Valley, Cindy was drawn to The Just Food Initiative, where, along with her administrative tasks, she is shares her gardening proficiency and learns more about creating greater justice in her own family’s food system.
An avid quilter, Cindy has, administrated her quilt shop business, creatively by developing quilts, quilting classes, and retreats. She has gained practical and transferable knowledges in leading elementary-age children in various park district activities.
Cindy and her husband, Jeff, live in Montgomery, where they have raised their grown son and daughter, and where they eagerly await the birth of their second grandson.
The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley seeks to promote quality and equality in the food systems of all the river towns of Fox Valley, and aims to do away with food injustices wherever found. Going beyond a food pantry, JFI aims to give individuals and families a hand up rather than a hand out. Information on JFI programs and projects, and on opportunities to contribute time, talent, or dollars, can be obtained at info@JustFood-FoxValley.org or at 630-470-8891. Cindy will be delighted to answer your inquiry and point you, or someone you know, toward greater food security and food sovereignty.
Through Facebook or Instagram an interested person can find a broad idea of the projects and programs JFI creates, to lead as many persons as possible toward personal and global food justice.
