This year, make sure to add these to your calendar so you don’t miss out on the fun.

  • Wyckwood House will be host to a special evening with Crystal Ship Jewelry Saturday, April 13. Starting at 5 p.m., guests will enjoy a cocktail bracelet launch. For more information, visit wyckwoodhouse.com/events.
  • Aurora Public Library will be host to Shop for a Cause and Spring Fashion Show at Wyckwood House Thursday, April 25. For more information, visit aplfoundationil.org.
  • Aurora Greenfest is back at Prisco Community Center Saturday, June 8. The environmentally-focused day of community, education, art, and fun, will be a kick-off to Summer. The festival has grown over the years and offers an up close look at sustainability.
  • In June, The Venue will celebrate its fifth anniversary. It’s hard to believe that the popular live music room in downtown Aurora has been around for a handful of years allready. But then again, it’s hard to imagine the City without the incredible space.

The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, will announce a few celebratory concerts this Spring that will mark the occasion in early June. The music venue will bring back the successful Summer Jam July 26. The outdoor festival will pay homage to the original Summer Jam at Watkins Glen, N.Y. with tributes to Grateful Dead, The Band, and the Allman Brothers Band.

Further up the Fox River in downtown Geneva, the Geneva Arts Fair will produce fine art booths along Third Street July 27 and July 28. The festival is free to attend and brings 150 artists from all over the Country to the curated art fair.

Alley Art Festival will return for year 14 Saturday, Aug. 31. The grassroots art festival will be back along Water Street Mall and Downer Place in downtown Aurora. Applications open to artists March 15. For more information, visit alleyartaurora.com.

As the Summer comes closer, there will be more events to add, and calendars will start to fill up. But for now, let’s dream of the sunshine and laughter-filled days that await us.

Here’s a list of upcoming, events that I’m excited about:

  • March 1 First Fridays throughout downtown Aurora: Participating locations include The Venue with a free concert; Wyckwood House; The Cotton Seed Creative; Yellow Bird Books; and more events.
