The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley (FRV) announced a grant award June 28 in an amount up to $15,000.00 to the Fox Valley Music Foundation.
The grant will be used for the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for The Venue, 21 S. Broadway in downtown Aurora.
The South Broadway building is owned by the city government of Aurora. Use of the first-floor space by the Fox Valley Music Foundation was approved by the Aurora City Council in November 2017, through a redevelopment agreement and grant for interior rehabilitation.
The Venue is expected to open in late Fall and will be home to a 200-seat performance space featuring state-of-the-art sound equipment, a small retail area dedicated to posters, recordings, and other merchandise that promotes the work of regional musicians. An art gallery will spotlight music-themed displays. A museum, archive, and research library will highlight music-related collections.
FVMF Board president Steve Warrenfeltz said, “The generosity of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is greatly appreciated. The grant award will advance our mission, and dramatically enhance our ability to serve the region, providing a gathering space for everyone, organized around the music that we love.”
The Fox Valley Music Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit, created in November 2014. Its mission is to preserve, promote and present the music of the Fox Valley region of Illinois, while providing music education to people of all ages, and from all walks of life.
