Covenant Christian School in Aurora was honored at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday, for 40 years of service.

The city of Aurora government was honored as one of 23 communities statewide to receive the Governor’s Hometown Award for it’s work to brighten up neighborhoods on the near East and near West Sides.

• Approved by the City Council was a resolution authorizing the purchase of bulk rock salt in the Amount of $63.87 per ton.

• Approved was $39,500 to Layne Christensen Company in Aurora, to restore Well No. 127 to operational status. The well, at 1048 Almond Drive, is a shallow well with the pump and motor setting at 102 feet below the surface and is normally capable of supplying approximately 1,000,000 gallons of water per day.

Routine testing of the well by Water Production Division employees and tracking of that test data indicated that the electrical function of the motor or electrical cables was compromised, which may lead to an ultimate failure of the equipment.
