Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley held their “Make a Goal to Fight Diabetes” fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva. The Club members, along with their family and friends, were treated to an exciting hockey game, watching the Chicago Steel players defeat the Youngstown Phantoms 2 to 1 in overtime. Steel goals were scored by Michael Hage and Charlie Major.
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month….The members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley want to remind everyone to take time once a year to be checked, to see if you are diabetic or pre-diabetic. Uncontrolled blood sugar can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage, and more!
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley meets monthly, January through November, on the second Thursday of the month, at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate, 211 N. River Street, in Montgomery. Social/dinner at 5:30 p.m. and meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.; guests are always welcome!
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used locally for the Club’s fight against diabetes.
Giving Tuesday, the annual celebration of generosity, will happen on this coming Tuesday, Nov. 28. Giving Tuesday was created to encourage people to come together to give back in many different ways: Through acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent, or treasure.
Several members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will be volunteering to package meals on Giving Tuesday, for the “Feed My Starving Children” organization, in Aurora.
Please plan on putting the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley on your “Giving Tuesday” donation list, to help aid us in our fight against diabetes.
