The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members will be attending Aurora Senior Services Associates noon meeting, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at 2111 Plum Street, Aurora.
Senior Services Associates, Inc. is a non-profit agency dedicated to sustaining and improving the quality of life for individuals age 60 and older, the disabled, and their caregivers by providing access to the social services they need. They are dedicated to preserving their independence, promoting mental and physical well-being and protecting their rights and dignity.
Amanda Creighton, activity coordinator, for Senior Services Associates contacted us requesting our attendance at one of their meetings, to tell our story.
Diabetes Club member Emily Hamaker, a graphic designer, serving on our Club’s media committee, will present a PowerPoint presentation, about our humble beginning October 1, 2022 by 15 individuals, who wanted to bring about an awareness of diabetes, provide aid and education for diabetics, while investing in research to find a cure.
Today we’re more than 70 members strong, made more than $30,000 in donations, to help in our fight against diabetes through research at UChicago-Kovler Diabetes Center, caring for under-insured and un-insured diabetics at VNA Health Care, assisting diabetics in obtaining and/or supporting their diabetic or therapy support animal, and other meaningful donations to aid our Fox Valley community!
A diabetes epidemic is out of control in our country! Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley believe in group therapy, bringing people together, discussing the dangers of uncontrolled blood sugar, and distributing healthy information that’s beneficial to everyone.
Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage and more. Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. A true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used for the club’s fight against diabetes.
