Dear editor;
I know the coronavirus (COVID-19) is serious, and I am a senior citizen, but governor JB Pritzker is, in my opinion, way out of line. Just goes to show you how far out of touch with reality these billionaires are. He and his family are the seventh wealthiest family in the U.S.A., according to Business Insider. I guess nowadays you have to be a millionaire or billionaire to run for office. That’s not right! They do not know how the other more-than-half live.
We went out for supper Sunday, and found that Pritzker has ordered all restaurants and bars to close. We asked the waitress how he was going to enforce that? Place a cop at the door of each place of business. No, he will fine the owners, as if they don’t have enough problems. And the waiters and waitresses, cooks, and busboys, are not working for the fun of it. They need the income!
But hey, Pritzker has no worries! He doesn’t have to pay rent, and he has enough money for food, medicine, anything he wants! And if his size is any indication, he hasn’t missed many meals! He said they can apply for unemployment, and yada yada yada. That takes time! Where is the money coming from? From the restaurant and bar owners!
And is there, in the Constitution, a clause giving Pritzker the right to do what he’s doing? He can say it’s in the Constitution, but few of us can understand the legalese these politicians insert to cover their backsides when they slip in a few loopholes.
No wonder government wants to take away our right to bear arms! Pritzker and his $15 per hour to flip hamburgers has put a lot of restaurants and fast food places out of business, or they’ve had to cut their staff members. I think flipping hamburgers was intended to be a starting point for teenagers to get a taste of the business world. I started out in high school working in a dry cleaning plant, but I moved on from that job. It wasn’t meant to be life’s work.
I have a little word for those reading: Ineptocracy: “A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.”
In other words… raise the taxes on the middle class and don’t be fooled by Pritzker’s tax level trap. Loopholes are just like Swiss cheese, and we won’t even notice them.
Sounds like State office-holders in Illinois, and probably other states, as well. Come into money, either inherited, or donated and you can buy your way into a top job such as senator or representative or governor.
