Dolan and Murphy captures Iowa ISC

Dolan and Murphy’s fastpitch softball team based in Aurora last weekend captured the Iowa area International Softball Congress (ISC) tournament championship in Walcott, Iowa. Dolan players, Mick Baker and Jose Deleon, received honors. Baker was the tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award recipient and Deleon was the MVP pitcher.

Dolan, which improved to 11-8 overall, will play the weekend of July 9-11 in Boys of Summer tournament in Denmark, Wis. against some of the teams in the country.

The tournament n Iowa did not start well. The host Walcott Merchants won in Dolan’s first game, 10-8. Dolan’s Jordan Eckman was the losing pitcher. Dolan won the next three games Saturday to move to the Sunday semifinals.

Dolan defeated Wabash, Ind., 10-3. Eckman was the winning pitcher. Robert Reder, Baker, and Dave Perkins each collected three runs batted in, plus Cayton Wallace hit a home run.

In the championship game, Sunday, Dolan and Murphy defeated Lampliter, 5-4, and started with an early three-run lead. After Lampliter scored four runs to take a one-run lead, Dolan scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead for good.

Eckman was the winning pitcher, Reder collected two hits and drove in two runs, and Baker picked up two hits. Luis Saldana collected two hits and rove in the two game-winning run.
