Dolan and Murphy fastpitch softball ninth in ASA tournament

Tournament time continues for the Dolan and Murphy fastpitch softball team, based in Aurora.

The team collected 1-3 records in July at tournaments in Prairie duChein, Wis. and in St. Paul, Minn..

Dolan and Murphy’s record was 3-2 in Amateur Softball Association (ASA) national tournament in South Bend, Ind. which earned ninth place.

The ISC (International Softball Congress) world tournament will begin Saturday, Aug. 13 in Moline, Ill. and Dolan will open against Waterdown Hammer, a Canadian team.

In the ASA tournament, Dolan fell to Midland, 8-1, to drop into the losers bracket, however, won three games in a row.

Dolan defeated Appleton, Wis., 1-0 with Kuba Osica the winning pitcher. Robert Reder hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to provide the winning margin for Dolan.

Dolan defeated the Ohio Bombers, 2-0. Osica struck out nine and gave up only three hits. Martin Magula and Justin Gonzales drove in the runs.

Dolan defeated Ostrander, 4-2. Oscar Sanchez was the winning pitcher and Osica took the save. Gonzales collected two runs driven in and Orlando Munoz hit a home run.

The No. 1 ranked team in the world ended the Dolan run with a 7-0 final score.
