In many ways, we blunder through our lives;
Each step from which another step derives.
Each step in the direction then we face,
Oblivious to what we then displace.
Influence is not readily discerned;
How that reflects upon our lives unturned.
Its power far beyond our conscious thought;
Where circumstance, a player now, is caught.
Determined by each step we take we move;
It is as if we have something to prove.
We will continue, through our lives, to grow;
In terms of growth and what we think we know.
But back to influence and circumstance a bit—
In every life, they play a part of it.
How each may mark our lives we fail to grasp.
There is no saving grace on which to clasp.
Each step we take will seem affirmative;
For every step determines how we live.
In looking back, we still are not aware
Each step we take determines when and where.
