Another Father’s Day is in the books and I hope it was a good one for all you fathers out there. It made me wonder how Donald Trump’s offspring recognized the day.
One of the latest fiascoes of the self-proclaimed stable genius currently in the White House that’s costing us taxpayers millions, is the beautification (gag) of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.. The Reflecting Pool has been sitting there, minding its own business, doing its job of reflecting since 1922.
Trump decided the pool would look better with a blue bottom under the water rather than to continue existing in its present state and it would only cost a million-and-a-half to vastly improve it. So without any approval or bidding, Captain Chaos hired a cohort’s company with no experience to do the job. The million-and-a-half ballooned to $15 million of taxpayer dollars. In just about a week, the pool became an algae-covered swamp, a metaphor for Donald’s administration. Redoing the pool will cost us that $15 million plus the cost of draining it to get rid of the existing, or by now mostly non-existing blue (yes, it’s true) truck-bed coating of paint or rubber or weasel pelts covering the bottom that would “last for fifty or a hundred years,” according to the president.
Since Trump doesn’t take advice from anyone because he knows best, he awarded the no-bid contract to Green Water Services, a company run by a convicted criminal who probably came up with a company name so he could get the contract and the millions that go with it because he said nice things about Donny and made a big donation to his campaign.
Anyone with even a modicum of experience in ponds or pools (even the average homeowner constructing a fish pond or adding a bird bath to their yard) would know how algae operates and apply the correct paint or coating to use in a pool so it doesn’t turn out like the coating of whatever that’s now breaking apart and floating in the green slime. But the swampy eyesore is not Trump’s fault just because he hired a shady friend; the Gaslighter-in-Chief says the real problem is that “left-wing Democrat radicals” vandalized the pool. Can’t blame the orange man or Green Water Services for that (to be honest, the company delivered what their name suggests). Tourists have been peeling off pieces of the whatever to take home as souvenirs. Sadly, because of the left-wing pool vandals, he’ll have to cancel his Reflecting Pool Rally if the Okefenokee Reflecting Pool problem isn’t corrected. I’m going out on a limb here, but I would guess (actually the real reason) it’s because so far he hasn’t sold any tickets.
The reflecting swamp debacle is a metaphor (this current administration is perfect for metaphors) for the illegal Iran war he started. No approval before going ahead, causing unintended consequences along the way, and turning out worse than before the debacle began, all the while costing us big bucks for our everyday necessities (inflation is the highest it’s been in three years).
Besides alienating the American people, Donald is busy alienating another of our allies. This time it’s Italy. He lied about the prime minister begging to have a photo taken with him and she let him know it.
