Five high schools in focus with Kilts Foundation awards

The Kilts Foundation has awarded eight scholarships to Kendall County 2023 high school graduates for the 2023-2024 college year. The Foundation awarded four Continuing Scholarships from recipients in 2022. The scholarships range from $500 to $1,000 each.

The Kilts Foundation was established under the will of Alverda Kilts following her death in 1988. Edward and Alverda Kahle Kilts were lifelong residents of Kendall County and residedin Plano for many years.

Kendall County high school seniors must live in the County, no matter what high schools they attend and can apply for a Kilts scholarship only through their high school guidance department.

New 2023 Recipients are as follows:

Oswego East High School

  • Erika Weidner, University of Illinois;

Newark High School

  • Zach Carlson, Joliet Jr. College;
  • Greta Hergenhahn, Aurora University;
  • Maxine Mikkelson, University of Illinois;

Yorkville High School

  • Joslyn Bullington, University of Alabama;
  • Samuel Tholen, University of Kentucky;

Plano High School

  • Imani Evans, Berea College in Kentucky

Aurora Christian

  • Madeleine Chenault, Aurora University; Continuing second scholars are as follows:

Lindsey Burke, University of Illinois;

Haley Duncan, Olivet Nazarene;

Mea Roberts, Illinois State University;

Jacqueline Jollay, University of Iowa.
