Aurora-area faith communities are invited to learn about Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity’s 2019 Faith Build, a local home building project sponsored by churches.
An information meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Genesis Community Church, Habitat offices, 1300 S. Broadway in Montgomery. The meeting was rescheduled from January 19 due to weather-related problems.
The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
Habitat officials will discuss how churches, mosques, and synagogues, can support construction of the third annual faith build, a Habitat home at 1530 Solfisburg Avenue in Aurora. Past faith builds have included volunteers from up to 30 faith communities. The Wood family of Montgomery, the future homeowners, is expected to attend.
Thrivent Financial Services’s Oswego office has offered a financial match commitment of $105,000 for the Habitat for Humanity 2019 Faith Build.
Founded in 1988, Fox Valley Habitat is based at Genesis Community Church in Montgomery and serves a 10-mile radius of Aurora. The volunteer group is the community affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International of Americus, Ga., a Christian, non-profit, non-denominational housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing.
Donations and volunteers are needed to continue the nonprofit ministry in Aurora, North Aurora, and Montgomery.
