The outing took place Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Beneficiaries of the outing are the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry and the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, both of which offer special services to veterans.

“We are so thankful for the Fox Valley Marine Corps for all they do for the entire community,” said Diane Renner, executive director of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry.

“Their recent donation of $6,500 from the golf outing will help us tremendously in expanding our Wednesday sharing of food to veterans and their families as well as the elderly and disabled. We are in the process of expanding this day of sharing to incorporate more healthy food choices along with healthy food videos for visitors to watch.”

Renner said some of the funds will be allocated to healthy food rescue programs.

Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry executive director Cat Battista is thankful to the Fox Valley Marine Corps for the generous donation.

“Their continuing support, year after year, helps to ensure that countless people in our community won’t have to go hungry,” she said.

Fox Valley Marines’ Jim Butler said the group is proud to present funds to help the efforts of both food pantries that serve military families in the Fox Valley area.

“I’m very thankful to the Golf Classic Committee for their hard work in making yet another Golf Classic successful,” Butler said. “This was our 12th year, and 100% of the money raised goes back to veterans and the community. I also want to thank all of our generous sponsors and golfers.”

Next year’s outing is set for Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020.
