Kiwanis Club Aurora bowling Feb. 1
Some have already made their excuses for their poor bowling to be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 for the Kiwanis Club of Aurora Project Eliminate Bowl-a-thon at Funway, Batavia, 1135 S. River Street. It’s going to be a fun evening and it will help support Kiwanis Project Eliminate. Cost is $20 per bowler and can be paid at aurorakiwanis.org,
The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, a deadly disease that steals the lives of 34,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year.
Founded September 9, 1916, the Aurora Noon Kiwanis was the first club in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District and the 21st club chartered in the world. Since that time, Kiwanis has grown to more than 8,500 clubs and membership more than 320,000. Kiwanis is in more than 80 nations or geographic areas.
The Noon Kiwanis Club of Aurora has 99 members. The Club’s current president is Kim Groom. In the last years, the club helped start clubs in Oswego and Yorkville.

Be The Inspiration: Rotary Feb. 2
The Rotary Club of Aurora Sunrise will be host to its 17th Annual Wine and Chocolate Experience, at the Stonebridge Country Club, 2705 Stonebridge Boulevard, Aurora, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. All proceeds will help benefit the young people of our community! The evening’s theme, “Be The Inspiration”, which is the Rotary International focus for 2018-2019.
At the Wine and Chocolate Experience, our guests can enjoy a three-hour open beer and wine bar, appetizers and a dinner that includes: A house salad, main entrée of chicken and beef with whipped potatoes and vegetable medley, and delicious warm chocolate lava cake with fresh berries for dessert.
