Effort seeks funds for mural in Yorkville
The Yorkville Public Library and Kendall Arts Guild have joined to raise funds to for artist Eulojio Ortega to paint a mural that would greet the public at the entrance of the Library at 902 Game Farm Road. It would excite the minds of those enter the Library. The addition to the library was built 12 years ago.
A breathtaking example of Ortega’s work can be viewed at the Kendall County Courthouse, where a mural featuring the history of Kendall County, funded through donations to the Kendall Arts Guild, is on display above the foyer entrance.
The Kendall Arts Guild greatly appreciates any contributions to help with funds for the library mural. The guild is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible. Taste of Norway June 2
A Taste of Norway breakfast fundraiser will open the Summer season for the Norsk Museum in Norway Saturday, June 2.
From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., volunteers will dish Norwegian delicacies at the Norway community building, 3654 IL-71, Norway, on Route 71, opposite the Norway store.
The Chicago area Norwegian Dancers will perform at 9:30 a.m..
The breakfast menu includes kumla, potato-ham dumplings; Norwegian waffles, scrambled eggs with chives, fruit, desserts, and coffee.
Adult tickets are $8. in advance; $10. at the door. Children’s tickets are $5. in advance, $7. at the door.
Museum hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday June through September. Group tours are available by appointment.
