According to Pastor Steve Good, the event by the church’s fellowship team celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss, an iconic children’s author.

In addition to green-tinted scrambled eggs and ham, the menu included cheesy potatoes, Cat in the Hat strawberry-banana fruit skewers, Lorax Truffula Tree fruit salad, 10 Apples Up on Top apple treats, One Fish Two Fish Jello cups, and decorated cupcakes and Lucky Charms cereal. Beverages included coffee and apple, grape and orange juices.

Copies of Seuss books served as table centerpieces.

Admission was free but donations were accepted.

“Green Eggs and Ham” was a 1960 book by Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel). It chronicles the persistent Sam-I-Am urging an unnamed character to try a plate of green eggs and ham.

Geisel wrote the book after his publisher bet him he couldn’t write an engaging children’s book using only 50 different words.
