Help with snowmobile safety

As Winter approaches, it’s time to prepare for snowmobiling season. To ensure the safety of snowmobilers, the Illinois Snowmobile Safety Course is here to equip enthusiasts with the knowledge and skills they need.

This free, eight-hour, instruction course provides participants with comprehensive training in snowmobiling, including maintenance and repair, safe operation, the history of snowmobiling, first aid, environmental protection, and knowledge of state laws.

The course is led by experienced instructors Ron Julian and Officer Rick Splittgerber. Two Winter sessions are available:

  1. First Session: Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve, 6N921 IL Route 25, St. Charles.
  2. Second Session: Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Forest Preserve District Headquarters, 1996 S. Kirk Road, Suite #320, Geneva, IL 60134.

Participants must be aged 10 and above. Whether you’re new to snowmobiling or an experienced rider, this course will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills to stay safe while enjoying snowmobiling.
