It’s tournament time in high school Fall sports. Football playoff pairings will be announced Saturday evening for 256 teams in eight classes.

• Hinsdale Central boys won the Class 3A State golf tournament and Geneva was sixth. In 2A, Benet Academy was sixth, Kaneland was in seventh, and St. Francis finished in eighth place. St. Charles North girls won the Class 2A State championship with Naperville North seventh, and Hinsdale Central eighth. St. Francis girls took seventh place in Class 1A.

• West Aurora won its fourth consecutive girls tennis Upstate Eight Conference championship. Maria Goheen took first place in first flight singles. Glenbard South took second place, three point behind.

• West Aurora won its 18th consecutive football game in the East-West series, the longest running in the State, with a 51-0 victory at home Friday. “How much of a team effort it was,” is the reaction of West High head coach Nate Eimer. South Elgin will be at West Aurora Friday for second place. See the football standings on page 19.

• Marmion football head coach Dan Thorpe: We play hard and fight for everything we get.”

• Plano football head coach Brad Kunz: “We have been running the ball really well all year.”
