A mask mandate is back for visitors, patients and staff at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora.

Executives of the hospital system, with campuses in Aurora, Oak Park and Chicago, cited increased levels of COVID-19 and other illnesses, including flu and respiratory syncytial virus.

The mask requirement is in place at all three Rush campuses.

Guidelines vary by hospital. In Aurora, visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, with two visitors allowed at a patient’s bedside at one time. Currently, there are no time restrictions placed during visiting hours, but no one under the age of 12 is allowed to visit patients.

Upon arrival, all guests are required to register at the main desk and will be screened for cough, shortness of breath, fever, recent illness, or exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days.

“All three RUSH hospitals — RUSH University Medical Center, RUSH Copley Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital — continue to take the steps needed to safely deliver care to all of our patients,” officials said. “The safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority.”
