How’s that workin’ for ya?: Measles, 9/11’s 25th

We haven’t heard much about the Canadian wildfires sending smoke our way recently. That story has kind of headed to the back burner. But we Americans should not overlook how the Canadian smoke pollution pushed our own homemade air pollution out of our skies. Admittedly, we can’t blame the fires that caused this pollution on the careless smoking habits of the moose population, although a few still Bogart their joints. Global warming is the main villain due to the fact that it has caused beavers out of the water to randomly explode.

Not to be outdone by bursting beavers, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is proving his true worth by being the root of the explosion in measles cases currently spreading across the U.S.. Since he pooh-poohed the measles vaccine, measles cases are at their highest levels since 1991 and have even resulted in death. No surprise or concern to anti-vaxers since it’s only their kids who suffer, not them. So sad, because measles had been eliminated in the year 2000. The rise in measles must be just a fluke because RFK, Jr. is a widely respected medical expert and his guidance in all things medical, including brain worms and brain worms with measles, is unquestionably accepted and followed by MAGA members everywhere. Right?

As we approach the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, all of us of a certain age (we choose not to broadcast) remember where we were when the 9/11 attacks took place, just as we remember where we were when John F. Kennedy was assassinated (yes, some of us are that old and still coherent). A tragic day for the Nation, but not for Donald Trump. I recall his sympathetic and heartfelt words of comfort for the families of those who died in the twin towers that day. Fortunately, his original statement has been resurrected and is gracing social media stating he has the tallest building in downtown Manhattan.

Trump is still making many of us squirm and head for the passport office by threatening that he might seek a third term. That’s a big no-no according to the 22nd Amendment, which apparently doesn’t apply to him. There’s been a great video circulating on TikTok and other media of a woman in a T-shirt printed with “Obama 2028: Since rules don’t exist anymore.” It doesn’t matter if the video is AI or real, because the sentiment genuine. Can you imagine if a head-to-head of Barack Obama and Trump ever came to fruition? Trump would become Obama’s Bounty Quicker Picker Upper Paper towel used for wiping off all the catsup Dippy Don splattered on the White House wall. That’s my way of saying “no contest.”

This past Sunday night, ABC’s 20/20 put together a very nice tribute to Dolly Parton. As I watched, it was the first time it hit me that she was really gone. It caused me to get tears in my eyes and also made me think of two 80-year-old people with health issues, one male and one female who both grew up in America but must have originally come from different planets (at least one did): Dolly and Trump on opposite ends of the human scale. Dolly represented everything that’s good in a person, while Trump represents the worst that humanity has to offer. Think about it. Then get your thoughts back to the spontaneously detonating Canadian wildlife.
