Poem: Humpty Dumpty

Share this article:

Humpty Dumpty opened his eyes;
Somewhat startled, there was surprise.
Taking time now, looking around,
He found he was high off the ground.
Horrors! Panic! Almost a scream;
Surely this must be a bad dream!
For he’d never sit on a wall;
Too much danger that he would fall.
King’s men’s talents may be quite good;
But putting him together, doubtful they could.
But how did he get to be here?
This was one place he had to fear
Then he remembered…the night before;
All of that drinking…always one more.
Then came the usual—bragging how brave;
All of you know that’s how you behave.
Also you know how all this turned out;
That’s what the nursery rhyme is all about!
