IHSA, College Football Hall of Fame, move gingerly

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) took easy steps to start the process of playing games with the ruling that modest first steps can be taken with individual workouts June 6.

Everything is contingent n the COVID-19 level in various areas. Not all school districts have the same exposure to sickness that has descended on our society. The aim is to be prepared for practice in the Summer for Fall sports. One step at a time.

The National Football Foundation has postponed one more week, to June 16, for the release of the names on the College Football Hall of Fame Ballot. All player candidates must be on a least one first-team all-America list. All coaches must have coached for at least 10 full seasons and 100 games as a head football coach. There will be recognizable names within the list released Monday, June 16.

• Chicago Wolves ice hockey fan Paul Leddy of Downers Grove two weeks ago received a surprise visit from Wolves’ representatives with the news that he had been randomly elected as the grand-prize winner in the season-long Sprint Power Play Payday contest. He received a $5,000 check. “I’ve been furloughed from work. So this (payday) comes at a great time.”

• The Chicago Bulls’ missing the 22-team playoff pairing may be a blessing to retool, rewire, and find a new path with new energy.
