Illegal fireworks up 170%, impacts children, elderly, those with PTSD

Mayor Richard Irvin of Aurora gives a briefing Tuesday on the impact of illegal fireworks on the community, including children, the elderly, those with PTSD, and pets. Illegal fireworks calls in Aurora are up 170% over the past month. Mayor Irvin said residents can call the “Fireworks Hotline” to report the use of illegal fireworks in Aurora. The number is (630) 256-5900.   The number is the Aurora Police non-emergency dispatch number and should be used instead of calling 911.
