Earth Day will be April 22.

  • We should take it seriously, not as a political statement, however simply as understanding each of us can do a little which, taken as a whole, can add up to a great deal to move in the direction of making a better Earth. It is we and not me.
  • Earth is tangible. If we are seeking improvement in an item not necessarily tangible, it could be we should improve interpersonal relations. In situations where the individuals agree with us, or, are much similar to us, interpersonal relations flourish, or, are, at least not so bad. It is in interpersonal relations where we must develop respect, have reasons to lack fear, and understand differences are acceptable, and are a part of life, we can make the best of it. Plus, we do not always have to be right. Fine individuals can accept an incorrect path, understand, and move ahead. It can work. Respect can heal.
  • Green? Each year the 17th annual Sustainable Design Challenge is held at DuPage County’s Administration building in Wheaton. DuPage County Stormwater Management sponsors the event and SCARCE coordinates the challenge. The contest encourages students to construct building and landscape models using environmentally-friendly and water-conserving design practices. Participating high schools: Hinsdale South, Hinsdale Central, Benet Academy, Glenbard East, Wheaton Academy, Lake Park, York, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family in Lisle. Students learned sustainable practices throughout DuPage County’s campus including a green roof, rain garden, restored wetland, and a new pollinator garden. It is important.
