In Doing What It Takes

That there are many types and levels of intelligence
You know, for you can see good evidence of that each day.
There well may be a certain type at which you take offense,
Decidedly against that type, in every possible way.

The level of intelligence will never be the cause
Of your demeanor,–it will be the behavior pattern shown;
For that is where you take umbrage, for that behavior gnaws
At your core of acceptance, that which always you disown

For certain levels of achievement though you can well expect
A certain pattern of behavior, one that fits the need,
A built-in trait of dominance others can respect.
But only as a major factor needed to succeed.

What must be done, however, is to measure that success.
In measuring successes, you must always count what’s done.
For that’s the Bottom Line, for here you do not have to guess.
If you’re the first one past the finish line, then you have won.

To do most anything in life, you do just what it takes.
To please your folks, or stay employed, or just to get ahead,
You build upon whatever’s needed, like in challenging your fates.
In doing what it takes is never doing what you’d dread!
