In Every Essence

I like to think I’m just an average guy;
No other likely title may apply.
But then, quite often, there will be a shift
Where I will try to give others a lift.
Now why that thought occurs I have no clue,
Except I think it’s the right thing to do.
Of course, it will be on what I believe,
But why I’m doing it, I can’t conceive.
The thought will come ostensibly full-blown,
Too many times as if it’s not my own.
As if I’m just recording what is said.
A stenographic function, to which wed.
Okay, let’s leave all this at that, and smile’
There’s only one thing here that you should file.
That every thought you have may not be yours;
But, when you muse, imagination soars.
Your life will be, most simply, a long test;
To which, by which, for which you’ll attest.
So all those thoughts which came out of the blue.
They are, in every essence, meant for you.
