In keeping with transparency, Kane County clerk John Cunningham reported that he was informed by his director of elections, Raymond Esquivel, that an issue arose regarding duplicate ballots being printed and mailed to a small group of voters. Due to processing issues when printing the ballot, the ballot printer was not able to determine if the ballot was actually printed, and therefore, another ballot was printed to ensure voters received their ballot on time.
“Knowing that tabulation system safeguards are in place, and the system allows only one vote per person, I am asking that voters who receive two ballots to disregard the duplicate ballot,” said Cunningham.
Clerk Cunningham says elections are complex and apologizes for any inconvenience.
