Lauren Underwood receives key to Aurora:

Mayor Richard C. Irvin of Aurora presents a Key to the City to and poses with congresswoman-elect Lauren Underwood of Naperville in a meeting Wednesday, Dec. 12 in the Aurora City Hall. Underwood was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 14th District by defeating incumbent Randy Hultgren in the November 6 election. The short presentation included a few remarks by each person. She will take office after the first of the year in 2019. In attendance were high school girls from East Aurora, Metea Valley, and West Aurora High Schools. The proceedings were delayed nearly an hour following a nationwide bomb threat hoax. The City Hall building was evacuated. Police called the threat an E-mail phishing scam. It reached The Voice communities to include Aurora and Elgin. Carter Crane/The Voice
