Chris Lauzen, Kane County treasurer, is inviting residents of Kane County to take part in a new effort, “Love Letters to America: Voices from Kane County for America’s 250th Birthday,” as the Nation approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026.

America will celebrate her 250th birthday in 2026. For generations, people from Kane County have built their lives here. Families have started businesses, raised children, served in uniform, taught in our schools, cared for neighbors, and contributed in ways that reflect the best of America.

Lauzen said, “Love Letters to America” is a community storytelling project that invites people connected to Kane County to reflect on what this country means to them. The idea is simple. Write a short letter about your American experience.

Participants are invited to submit letters of up to 600 words by June 1. From those submissions, at least 20 letters will be selected and featured publicly as part of a special project reflecting a wide range of experiences and voices connected to Kane County. This crowd-sourced book will be previewed by June 20thand published on July 4, 2026.

Submissions can be made through an online form at: www.lauzen.com/love-letters-to-america.
