The 69th annual year of the Lehnertz Avenue Christmas Display in Aurora will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday with the Crib blessing in the park on Lehnertz Avenue at Ohio Street on the Northeast Side. Father Matthew McMarrow of St. Joseph’s Parish will offer the blessing.

To add to the comfort of the evening under the duress of COVID-19, the Lehnertz Avenue Improvement Association, Inc. will stream live the blessing on Facebook and Instagram. A recording will be posted on Facebook.

The lights will be on each evening from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday, Jan. 2, 2021, and on all night Christmas Eve.

The display started in 1952 when 14 residents gathered to create a display to promote the true meaning of Christmas. Since then the Snoopy Christmas Display is east of Ohio street and along Lehnertz Circle which started in 1979 after construction of new homes.
