• Plastic bag recycling: Kane County Division of Environmental Resources reminds everyone to not put plastic bags inside of the recycling collection bin. All recyclable items should be loose in the collection bin. Plastic Bags are the No. 1 contaminant at sorting facilities. Plastic bags and plastic film are recyclable, but only at grocery store drop-boxes. Check your store for their drop-box and to verify acceptable materials. Plastic bags that can be recycled include newspaper bags, produce bags, bread bags labeled with a #2 or #4. Plastic bags and films that cannot be recycled include cling wrap, frozen food bags, and cellophane.
• Kane County’s Recycling collection event: The Kane County Electronics Recycling Program has two daily drop-offs, 517 E. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 900 Angle Tarn in West Dundee, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m..
