Poem: Life’s Changes Changes Life

Share this article:

Perhaps not long ago, you never dreamed
You’d be here in a senior living place,
Where such a possibility then seemed
Remote, unheard of, not in any case.

Your own infirmities dictated change,
And helped to dictate just what kind of care.
All through this period, which seemed so strange,
You wondered if your life was being fair.

But if you thought life would be but routine,
You never dreamed how much—each day the same.
At first, you struggled with how fortunes lean,
You never saw this coming—who to blame?

A break in the routine—just anything
To prove the world was still around outside.
The physical and mental bout would bring
About an equal struggle with your pride.

So here you are, and likely to remain;
But this we want to see—an honest smile!
A laugh, a joke, a quip, an old refrain—
Just let us help you go that extra mile!
