Loaves & Fishes Community Services is proud to offer a new way for clients to receive healthy food. Clients can pre-select their groceries through Loaves & Fishes’ Online Market and then simply pick up their order from Loaves & Fishes’ new Food Distribution Hub in Aurora.
Clients can gain access to the online market through Loaves & Fishes’ website or by visiting lffood.org. There, they can then select fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, proteins, beverages, bread, frozen foods, personal care products, household products, and infant care for no charge.
Because some clients work multiple jobs, or have family or physical constraints, in-person shopping can be challenging. The online market gives them the ability to shop anytime, anywhere. The online market is easy and simple to use. Most clients can complete an order in five to 10 minutes.
Loaves & Fishes is focused on significantly impacting families’ lives by increasing access to food by families that are food insecure. Loaves & Fishes clients can now choose how they get the food they need through three ways: Shopping in-person at Loaves & Fishes’ Naperville Market, ordering online and then picking up their order, or receiving pre-packed boxes of food through curb-side service at the Food Distribution Hub.
“Very importantly, Loaves & Fishes intentionally designed the online market software so that any food pantry in the United States could easily use the software for their own clients. Although this approach added complication and time to develop the software, Loaves & Fishes believes that collaborating with others has the most impact on meeting the needs of food insecure families,” said Mike Havala, president and CEO of Loaves & Fishes.
This project was made possible through the support of our community and from a grant from the Thierer Foundation.
