Batavia MainStreet will be host to “For the Love of Local Weekend” as a thank you to the community for the support over the last year. Joe Gagnepain of Art by Joseph will create ice sculptures at the Peg Bond Center, 151 N Island Avenue, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.
With the majority of Downtown events canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, MainStreet is excited to offer a fun, social-distanced, activity. “We want to show some love to the community by offering a unique experience. For the Love of Local Weekend provides a way to connect with oane another when our options are so limited,” said Beth Walker, executive director of Batavia MainStreet.
Gerald Subaru of North Aurora, a longtime supporter of MainStreet, happily jumped on board, along with Batavia Park District to help make this event happen.
