Cocktails with Mamie will be a chance to meet Mamie Eisenhower who will be in Aurora on a mission for Ike’s presidential re-election in 1956. This is will be a chance to rub elbows with the country club set of the era, and have a Pink Squirrel cocktail with the First Lady of the United States from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Friday, Oct. 12.
Attendees should dress in 1950s swank (optional), which includes Dior, nippedin waists, full skirts and little hats, short bangs and pink. Hors d’oeuvres and full open bar will be at the Aurora Country Club, 1548 Prairie Street, Aurora. Cost is $65 per person and $60 for Aurora Historical Society (AHS) members. Historian Ellie Carlson will portray Mrs. Eisenhower.
