The aim in our sports world is greater than entertainment, although it is a sincere part of sports.

Offering help is an objective part of the East Aurora-West Aurora alumni doubleheader basketball games at East Aurora Friday, April 19. Ticket sales from the games, which start at 6 p.m., will benefit the Marie Wilkinson Child Development Center in Aurora. Child development is a foundation of our society regardless of how we look a the goals. Seeking a better tomorrow is always a foundation of a better today.

The first game will be between the Lady alumni and will be followed by the Gentlemen alumni. Here’s to two good games for a good cause!

•No sports fan wants to own the title of Loser Town., however, both the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago White Sox make it difficult to shed such an assessment. Good news later, however, we must acknowledge that through Monday this week the White Sox had fallen to a 2-14 record in the American League Central Division, the worst start in franchise history in 124 years. The Blackhawks were just four points ahead of San Jose in the Western Conference, 51-47, second worst among the 32 teams in the National Hockey League.

The good news:

•The Chicago Cubs were playing inspired, technically-sound, baseball through 17 games (11-6) and in contention for first place in the National League Central.

•The Chicago Bulls were in the playoff picture this season which will be helpful for next season.

•Top recruiting: U. of Illinois men’s basketball.
