Aurora Launches Leasing Application for New Affordable Housing for Seniors

April is National Fair Housing Month, and senior citizens in Aurora will have an opportunity to apply for affordable housing.

The Fourteen Forty-Nine Senior Estates, Aurora’s newest affordable housing neighborhood for seniors, is under construction. The first units are nearing completion and will be ready for tenants soon.

Fourteen Forty-Nine Senior Estates is operated by the Aurora Housing Authority and its development arm, the Northern Lights Development Corporation. The neighborhood will have 70 brand-new single-family homes and duplexes on Aurora’s far west side. The 1 and 2 bedroom, single-story homes have attached garages. The neighborhood will include a clubhouse, a pickleball court, and more. Eligible tenants must be 62 years and older on a fixed income.

Applications are open, with the first tenants being assigned next month in May, National Affordable Housing Month.
