Aurora Police received the call for a missing 13-year-old around 10 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the area and started investigating. We began a large search utilizing our officers, our drone team and a bloodhound K-9, as well.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., Monday, Aurora Police Department dispatch received a call from a neighboring dispatch center letting us know that a deputy they had found the missing endangered 13-year-old teenager in a nearby city.
The other dispatcher center advised us that a person had spotted the boy playing basketball and recognized the boy from seeing his picture on the news.
Aurora Police detectives responded to the area to confirm that the boy was the missing 13-year-old.
At approximately 9:20 a.m., detectives confirmed that the boy was in fact the missing teenager.
The exact circumstances of why the boy left home remains under investigation.
