Monitor needed for Wild Bill Suhayda prose

Oh my lord, my lord. Just when I thought it was safe to go back in The Voice with a new fun topic, here comes Wild Bill Suhayda riding full speed ahead on his donkey and shooting his flaming arrows in my direction and that of Chas Coddington as well. I suggested previously that Wild Bill needed to be fact-checked by someone, probably Chas and me and astute Voice readers, so let me begin with my contribution.

In the last line of his January 18 submission of prattle to The Voice, Suhayda states, “…Americans are calling for a genocide of the Jews.” It should be intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer that this whacked-out statement is coming from a whacked-out person. Although some people may think of me as whacked-out, I’m an American and I never called for the genocide of Jews. Stupid prattle (for you English aficionados, I realize those two words have basically the same meaning except one is an adjective and one is a noun. Who says my column isn’t educational?) submissions, yes, but not genocide.

Billy earlier stated that Biden supports Hamas. Since World War II, the U.S. has given $317.9 billion to Israel, more than to any other country in the world, possibly even in the solar system. On top of that, the U.S. has paused funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East because some workers in the agency may have participated in the October 7 attacks against Israel. No genocide here. Strike one, Wild Bill.

While we’re on the subject, as of earlier this week, 26,257 Palestinians had been killed by Israel, causing the UN court to keep the case of genocide against Israel open. I must admit, it does seem like overkill for the 1,200 citizens of Israel massacred October 7, but that’s just me. I’m no supporter of Hamas, but the majority of Palestinians killed have been women and children, with approximately 8,000 to 9,000 being Hamas fighters. Now that aid to Gaza has been paused, those suffering the most, again, are the Palestinian civilians. Some years back, a lady friend of mine made a trip to the Holy Land. She was unexpectedly shocked at the treatment of the Palestinians by Israel. When Israel wanted more of the West Bank for development, bulldozers were sent in to level the homes and barns of the residents, some whose families had lived there for generations. Those people fled with whatever they could carry as the bulldozers moved in. I’m just sayin’. Now, before I start getting any love letters, the only side I’m taking in this whole mess is the side of families, both Israeli and Palestinian, who just want to get on with their lives.

Next, Wild Bill wrote that, “The Supreme Court of Colorado gave themselves the authority to convict Trump [of something. Wild Bill never wrote what] with no charges being brought…” Wrong, O Duly Anointed Master Kisser of the Holy Ring and Lower Anatomical Parts of Trump. All they did was decide to kick him off the ballot. They don’t need any “convictions of” only “engaged in” insurrection by the orange-faced, conscienceless, mean-spirited blob, and (insert drum roll here) convicted sex offender (!) to do that. If it looks like insurrection, walks like insurrection, etc., etc., to the Supreme Court…Strike two, Wild Bill.

Last, but not least, Billy Boy writes, “…Democrats corrupted the FISA courts to do illegal spying on a president of the United States.” Au contraire, Wiley William. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 gives FISA the powers to do electronic surveillance, physical and business record searches, use trap and trace devices, etc. Nothing illegal there. Strike three, Wild Bill.

Whew! Once again, I’ve used up my fun-time space here and devoted it to fact-checking Suhayda, but somebody has to do it. I’m sure more fact-less facts will be forthcoming. Chas, you’re up next.
